A Psalm Of David

Psalm 35:1 - 8

"Plead my Cause, Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

Take hold of Shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

Draw out also the Spear, and stop the way against them that PERSECUTE me: say unto my soul, i am thy salvation.

Let them be Confounded and put to Shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to CONFUSION that devise my hurt.

Let them be as Chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord PERSECUTE them.

For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

Let Destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very DESTRUCTION LET THEM FALL"

This is one of the "imprecatory" psalms that call upon God to deal with our enemies, we should learn the following from this psalm:

1. David was fleeing from men who were unjustly seeking to kill him
2. Davids call for justice was sincere: it was not a cover for vengeance
3. David did not say he would take vengeance, but gave the matter to God

Cruelty is far removed from many peoples experience, but it is a daily reality to my family.

God has promised to help the "PERSECUTED" and bring judgement on unreppentant sinners, authoritarians and people in power who use their position to PERSECUTE and OPPRESS.

When we pray for justice to be done, we are praying as David did.

More so if you are been PERSECUTED for believing in the Word of God, like i am: surely the bible says you will greatly be rewarded, Indeed the Bible says, "Blessed are the PERSECUTED"

The word of God says:

Acts 5: 41

"And they departed from the presence of the council, Rejoicing that they were counted Worthy to SUFFER shame for his name"
